Kundalini Yoga – Shambhavi and Ah Qureshi Level

If I had to recommend a Bubba Kush Thc level program to someone who is just starting out in yoga, it would be Shambhavi Samadhi. It’s a very simple program with a perfect method for those who have not yet been exposed to the finer points of Kundalini awakening. Shambhavi is one of my favourite classes to teach because the energy system used is so subtle. The awakening power can actually be felt by those taking the course, and they can also see subtle changes occur in the body as a result of their meditations.

The most important aspect of Shambhavi is that it has a low level of risk. Most first-time students of Kundalini are nervous and edgy. There is this huge leap between the conscious mind and the subconscious mind, and that’s where most people fall short. With Shambhavi there is a very small difference between the two, and this is the reason it has such a low risk factor. As long as you follow instructions, you won’t fall prey to the many traps that are out there.

I love this little bit of information about Shambhavi. Even if you’re a beginner, there is still a low level of risk. You don’t need to worry about the dangers of learning Kundalini awakening and living in fear. There is nothing to fear. In fact, you’ll be surprised to discover just how easy Shambhavi is.

There are seven levels to Shambhavi, and each is named after flowers. In the very beginning, students will learn about flower power through a very detailed explanation of Kundalini. At the next level, students will have an opportunity to actually hear the awakening of Kundalini. At the highest level, students will receive a personal lesson from Swamiji regarding Kundalini. With all these wonderful things available, why should anyone not be eager to give Shambhavi a try?

I’m one of those people who was excited about Shambhavi before I heard about it on Oprah. After I did, I felt that I had missed an opportunity. That’s when I decided to look up Shambhavi on the internet and see what I could find. What I found was that Shambhavi is extremely easy to master and doesn’t take much effort on the part of the student. In fact, you can go through the entire Shambhavi course without ever thinking about yoga at all. There isn’t even a mantra to chant.

The reason I like Shambhavi so much is because it’s such a simple system. Just think of Shambhavi as having four steps: Shambhavi, Sattva, Tamas (tribe), and Chittavritti (covering the sins). On the Shambhavi, Sattva and Tamas are covered with different colors depending on whether or not you’re a Yogi (yogic) or not. In this way, Shambhavi can be practiced by anyone regardless of their level of yogic commitment. This is very different from other systems of yoga that make you go through the motions of specific postures over again.

Now, I’d like to compare Shambhavi to some other popular systems. For example, I’ve seen a lot of students spend months learning Bikram yoga. They feel like they’re getting a true education. And, in some cases, that’s true. However, when I watch students at my yoga studio, they often seem more interested in asking how to do Bikram than they are in actually mastering the techniques.

So, it appears to me that while Shambhavi has a lot of value, it may not be as useful as some of the other systems. When I make a new student, I emphasize to him or her to devote time and effort to mastering Shambhavi. The techniques are easy to master, but mastery requires a lot of work. And sometimes, that’s not enough. However, I’ve seen many students improve dramatically after spending some time practicing Bikram. It just depends on how committed the student is.
