Marijuana plants grow better with regular marijuana seeds. Why? This is because regular marijuana seeds are sure to produce large and healthy buds that are just perfect for smoking. Now your chances for having a successful female marijuana plant are basically the same as your chances for having a successful male marijuana plant growing.
That’s good news, right? Now that you know this, there are other reasons why regular marijuana seeds are preferred over feminized plants. First of all, feminized plants are less potent than their male counterparts. This makes them a poor choice for growing medical marijuana or other types of marijuana that do not require as much concentration of active compounds.
In addition, some types of these seeds are considered “hermaphroditic.” This simply means that they develop buds which have both male and female chromosomes in them. Basically, these buds cannot tell the difference between their sexual and gender identities. As a result, these plants can end up either crossing over to the opposite side of its chromosomes (the opposite side when compared to its own) or developing a complete feminization. This can be bad news for medical marijuana plants.
What is good news, however, is that feminized cannabis seeds are a lot easier to get. Typically, you can buy regular seeds at a local garden store and then select which kind you want to start with. Some types of feminized cannabis seeds even allow you to cross them over so that you can get two plants. This is a wonderful way to increase your chances for success. The more frequent crossbreeding you do, the more likely you are to get something out of your plants’ genetics.
If you are interested in trying auto flowering plants, however, you should first know what these are. Basically, they are small plastic or glass pots that contain a thin layer of Styrofoam or other material. They are placed inside a glass cylinder that is suspended in a water solution. The water fills the inner area of the cylinder, and as it does so, the water “soaks” the Styrofoam, causing it to expand into the shape of the pot.
The reason why autoflowering seeds work so well is because of the way they mimic the traits of feminized plants. It all starts with the genetics. Since the feminized seeds are engineered to behave like the actual ones, they will usually end up with traits that are close to those of regular marijuana strains. This can make breeding them difficult, but it is possible, especially if you have a friend who has recently started growing feminized cannabis.
However, since feminized seeds cannot actually be “made”, you have to make them yourself. The process is actually quite simple. All you need are regular marijuana seeds and some Styrofoam or an egg carton. You simply take the seeds out of their packaging and place them in the receptacle with the Styrofoam. Within just a few days, you should have something that looks just like a regular female plant.
But since feminized seeds cannot be stored at room temperature, you will have to keep them tightly closed. If you are growing indoors, this isn’t a big problem, since most indoor gardens have ventilation systems anyway. But if you are going outside, then a solution comes in the form of hanging baskets. Hanging baskets keep the plant from getting too hot and causes less damage to its roots. Many growers looking for a simple, easy, and effective way of feminizing cannabis plants turn to these types of baskets when they do not have time to nurture their seeds by hand.
