Bubba Kush, otherwise known as bulrush is one of the more popular strains of cannabis. It has a remarkable and powerful effect on the brain and body. It is sometimes compared to THC, the active ingredient in cannabis. However, it is not a full-grown cannabis plant. It is actually a hybrid between two cannabis strains, specifically the indica and sativa. It is often called Bubba Kush because it usually contains a high level of THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), which is believed to be the active ingredient responsible for the “high” feeling associated with cannabis.
The Bubba Kush strain is also commonly called just bud, or even bud. This is because the leaves of this particular marijuana strain have been pressed and sold as a tea, candy, or in other forms. This high level of THC is what makes it so desirable and pleasurable to many people, including some who suffer from chronic diseases such as cancer or HIV/AIDS. People who take Bubba Kush for pain relief and to relieve the symptoms associated with those diseases may also find some of the same positive side effects that are seen in medical studies on THC. Specifically, some medical studies have shown that Bubba Kush can reduce the level of nausea associated with those diseases, and it may even be effective in treating some types of pain associated with those diseases, such as sciatica and chronic pain.
But can Bubba Kush have negative side effects? In many ways, yes, it can. Some of the side effects seen on the strains of cannabis that contain high levels of THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, include things like dry mouth, dry eyes, and stomach problems, among others. Although some of these symptoms are not severe, it is important to note that some of them could eventually lead to serious health problems.
For instance, some studies have shown that Bubba Kush may help reduce the symptoms of nausea caused by chemotherapy. The reason for this is that the marijuana induces relaxed muscles within the body, which allows patients to adjust their doses of the drug to reduce some of the undesirable side effects. However, experts caution that it is unclear how much of the marijuana causes this relaxation, and the degree to which it may help reduce nausea depends on the strength of the marijuana and the individual’s body chemistry. Still, it is being studied and may help in reducing the negative side effects of chemotherapy treatments.
Other reports indicate that Bubba Kush may help relieve muscle spasms associated with MS. This is due to the high level of the present in the marijuana; it has been noted that strains of cannabis containing higher levels of thc have been able to reduce muscle spasms in some people, even when other forms of therapy have been attempted in conjunction with it. Medical studies on this strain have shown that the high level of thc may reduce inflammation and help ease muscle contractions, but further research is needed to confirm these results. A reduction in spasticity has also been seen in some children suffering from MS; it is unclear whether the marijuana induced relaxed state helps relieve these symptoms.
Some medical researchers have looked at whether Bubba Kush may help relieve symptoms of seizures in children who suffer from epilepsy. Although no definitive evidence has been found, the scientists involved in the study theorized that the high level of thc in the cannabis strain may help alleviate the convulsions associated with epilepsy. This was supported by a study performed in pediatric epilepsy patients who had long histories of epilepsy and who were using cannabis strains without significant levels of thc. Although there was no significant difference in seizure rates between those who took marijuana without the supplement and those who took it with the supplement, the researchers acknowledged that the results are preliminary and more studies are required to confirm these results. The study did not look at any children who were taking medications for other forms of epilepsy or who were unresponsive to other standard treatment methods.
Currently, there is no scientific evidence that shows that Bubba Kush has any effect on the ongoing sleep disorder known as sleep apnea in children. However, many pediatricians who are treating children for this condition with sedatives (anti-anxiety medications) often prescribe the cannabis strain to alleviate daytime sleepiness. It is not clear how the high levels of thc found in Bubba Kush would interact with traditional anti-anxiety drugs. However, the fact that kush strains contain almost three times the amount of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), another component of marijuana, makes them particularly potent.
Many pediatricians are reluctant to prescribe high doses of anything to children. However, many medical experts believe that prolonged use of kush may result in a number of short-term complications, especially in children already experiencing a number of health problems. An increased heart rate, for example, may increase the risk of heart failure in a child already at increased risk for cardiovascular problems. Some researchers believe that the high concentrations of THC may also lead to decreased sperm count in men. THC levels have also been associated with schizophrenia in some studies. Because these levels have been shown to remain high even after the ingestion of a moderate amount of alcohol, it may be possible that they play a role in the link between marijuana use and schizophrenia in adults.
