The controls are simple and straightforward. The left and right arrows move the cursor and up and down change your speed. The bottom left corner will change color depending on your score. The red is for a loss, green is for a win and purple is a combination of both. The next level adds more of these little bonuses.
The sound effects are cartoonish. For instance, when you throw your flag out you will hear the popping sound effect. It’s really amusing. The music is also nice and it makes you feel like you are part of the game. The story is just as the mechanics of the game.
One of the best things about BananabubbleGum is that it allows you to play with your friends over the internet. It really is like a mini board game. You can create a group with friends and play against each other. You can compete against the computer or another online player.
You can buy the whole BananabubbleGum bundle or you can buy it separately. The latter choice is recommended if you haven’t played the game yet. The items included are: the flags, a spinning tower, a jar, four coins, and a pot of jelly. You can also add an assortment of dice. I’ve seen some people add a couple of other pieces but that would be rare.
The fun begins immediately once you load up the game. The first thing you do is select a screen saver. Most people like to see something small like a clock, their handbag, or a picture of a vacation. Pick one that fits your personality. After loading the game up and choosing a screen saver, you are ready to begin playing. Bananabomb will take you through a quick introductory round that asks you to choose a word, then toss the ball onto the tube.
The game has a few obstacles in order to keep it from getting too easy. If you don’t know how to use the items on the screen, there are buttons that show what each one does. Once all of the words are tossed, the next obstacle is to try to get your ball through a portal that pops up. It’s just another fun little game that any child would be happy to play.
Once you do get your ball through the portal, you win the game. You can play again if you want but the first time you play, you have to pick a word. The words are those that you chose in the game. This makes it even more exciting because now, you have to choose words that sound like music. Bananabug is available for iPhone, iPod Touch, and the iPad.
It’s a great idea to get the whole family involved. Tell them to guess the words and then read them out loud. They may not be able to guess right every single word, but this will help them get a few right. Let them join in on the fun by guessing as many words as they can.
