Feminized Marijuana Seeds: The Easier Choice
Regular, small-sized cannabis seeds, or “buds”, are created by a male cannabis flower growing in the proper environment under the right conditions. Male buds are created when a male cannabis flower pollens a female flower. Male bud is released by the strong wind blowing or carried by a breeder’s hand until it reaches the open, receptive stigmas on female flowers. When a bud reaches this point, it detaches itself from the flower and goes into the ground to germinate. This process occurs over again, and is why many of us prefer regular, small cannabis seeds over large, bushy ones.
Many popular gardeners have begun to use feminized or autoflowering seeds. This is not to say that regular cannabis seeds cannot be feminized. They can, but it is very rare. Most feminized or autoflowering seeds are harvested before the flowers open and before they have completely finished blooming, allowing them to go through the male stage without interference.
Autoflowering cannabis seeds are made with the intent to control where the plants grow. A seed that has been feminized will have one or more of its terpinen profiles removed. This terpinen profile refers to the medicinal chemistry of the flower. Some of the medicinal chemicals found in cannabis stem from this terpinen profile. Some of these chemicals have been found to inhibit the production of cholesterol, which is the hormone that plays a major role in the growth of both male and female plants.
Another reason why regular cannabis seeds may be feminized is because they lack the natural oils that would normally be dispersed by air during their growing phase. Autoflowering seeds do not have these oils, so they are not as vulnerable to dry air or heat. This makes them much better for indoor growing. In fact, some types of sensi have been developed specifically for use in indoor environments, because they are more suited to the temperature and moisture level required for indoor cultivation.
In order for regular cannabis seeds to grow well and continue producing pollen, there needs to be an environment that provides adequate moisture and temperature for the plants. It is also important to remember that male plants will produce pollen while females will stop producing after a certain period of time. This means that it is important to cultivate male plants before females, in order to keep the plant going and producing pollen.
The best way to create this environment in which breeding can take place without worry is to start seeds indoors and let them become male plants. This can be accomplished in a number of ways, including traditional breeding techniques that involve crossing two plants together. Alternately, you can begin to breed animals, like rabbits, so that they can also reproduce as males. No matter how you go about it, however, you need to make sure that the conditions are right for breeding, especially since some animals are less adaptable to certain temperatures and moisture levels.
A less common method for breeding cannabis seeds is through feminization. Feminization occurs by encouraging the plants to produce flowers in the absence of pollen. This is possible because the female plants rely on the male plants for protection from predators and from the harsh elements of the environment. When growing cannabis seeds with feminization in mind, you need to choose carefully which flowers you will grow. While some are quite feminine, others have a boldness that is more appropriate for outdoor growing.
Once you have decided which flowers you would prefer to try, you may want to consider putting them into a separate container to start the feminization process. If you are growing feminized seeds, feminized cannabis seeds will require even greater care because they won’t have nearly as much support. If you plan to continue growing them, however, it will still be relatively easy to care for them. Just follow the normal care instructions for regular cannabis seeds and your plants should thrive!
