Regular cannabis seeds have literally unlimited possibilities for breeders to experiment with. Both of these classes are relatively new innovations when you think about the fact that humans have been cultivating cannabis for thousands of years now. When a male cannabis flower pollens a females flower, then this is called a crossover and is used to make the common marijuana we all know and love. Some more exotic varieties of crossover are even made from flowers belonging to other plants.
Cultivating feminized seeds means you can crossbreed your plants to create new and unique species of cannabis. Crossbreeding has long been used to modify and improve the characteristics of crops. For example, many of us know that some strains of cannabis are hybrids. These are plants that share specific traits, often passed down the generations, making them highly desirable because of those traits. If you produce feminized seeds, you can then experiment with crossing these plants to create new strains and even new species of cannabis.
The way you get new feminized plants is very simple. All that’s required is that one of the females has a pollen packet containing only males. When this female flower is Pollen free, then the pollen will start to land on the underside of the pollen cup, waiting for its pollen to land and start to reproduce. Over time, as the pollen travels through the growing plant‘s roots, it will gradually make its way to the tips of the leaves where it will start to start reproducing again. This continues as the plants grow, becoming feminized and setting up conditions in which the seeds can be dispersed to different areas of the plant.
Many people wonder how they go about getting their plants to become feminized. The best way to achieve this is to crossbreed the two genders with male plants, especially the female. Crossbreeding doesn’t work well, though if you want to have even gender regular cannabis seeds because of the high level of inter-breeding.
The other way to crossbreed is to actually take a cloned plant from one of your mother plants and give it to the growing part. In theory, this should produce a new generation of plants, but not your regular cannabis seeds. The problem here is that since it’s a cloned plant, there isn’t much room for error. These mother plants are usually taken from the Outdoor Vegetable Garden, which isn’t really that close to your house. If this method wasn’t tried, it’s highly likely that there would be many mixed breeds in existence today, resulting in plants with significant differences.
There are ways around this issue of poor genetics though. You could actually keep one sex of a plant from the outdoors and another from indoors and give each half of the pair a little of the other parent plant. This allows for some natural inter-breeding without introducing any foreign species into your garden. It’s also possible to take the male outdoors and use the females inside so that they mate in harmony with each other.
The last way to crossbreed plants successfully is by using what’s known as a sterile cutting. Here the female plant is cut in half and placed into the male plant‘s habitat. Over a period of weeks, the plants begin to develop similarities to each other. These new plants will then be ready to flower as regular cannabis seeds.
If you’re interested in trying to get feminized cannabis seeds, it’s important to note that these are actually not that easy to get. A lot of breeders are out there who’ll claim to have the ability to create feminized cannabis seeds but in fact won’t be able to do so. The best chance of getting a true cannabis seed with a feminine trait is to buy from a reputable online store or dealer. With a reputable store, you’ll be sure to get a quality product that won’t sell for a small price compared to the others.
