Crossbreeding Regular Cannabis Seeds With Autoflowering Seeds Produces Unique Strain

Regular cannabis seeds, also known as “dubs” or “growers”, are a great way to cultivate your very own small collection of buds, without the time-consuming task of growing them yourself. If you’ve ever wondered how to start growing your own marijuana plants, but had no idea where to start, consider cultivating these small, low-maintenance wonders instead! All you need are regular, dried cannabis seeds. Here’s how to get started…

When a male cannabis plant reproduces, female seeds are produced. Female flowers are released by the wind or blown by the hand (or gently cradled by a caring hand) until they find the right receptive stigmas inside female flowers. The act of “sowing” starts the reproductive process – all it really takes is one male flower per plant to begin reproduction. Once the process begins, all that’s needed is regular, dry cannabis seeds, moistened with water, which the plants feed off of. The roots then feed off of the nourished roots and create new, larger leaves.

There are a number of different reasons why regular cannabis seeds are used for this purpose, including the following: breeders want to ensure the best possible genetics, and the best possible conditions for the plants’ development. By crossbreeding certain types of plants, breeders can achieve specific results – for instance, creating a superfood with super traits. And since certain strains of plants have desirable characteristics, such as fast growth, low smoke content, or strong smells, they can be crossed with other strains to come up with even more powerful varieties. Basically, breeders want to use regular strains that have some exceptional qualities to make their crops more potent.

Aside from crossbreeding certain strains, there is another way that breeders go about attempting to create new varieties – feminization. This is when asexually reproduced or artificially inbred characters are introduced into the cannabis seed stock. By creating feminized plants, the traits that would otherwise be rendered unachievable by nature are allowed to flourish. Some of the most common feminized features include the following:

– Independently developed flowers. All marijuana seeds that are generated by crossbreeding only ever produce one set of flowers – regardless of whether the flowers come in male or female forms. When plants are grown singly, only the male part of the plant comes into existence, meaning that all females are sterile. But when these plants are crossbred, the females can grow flowers in either sex, depending on how the hybrid was created. Crossbreeding eliminates the need for an unfavorable selection, allowing for the creation of new, more useful and powerful plants.

– Feminized seedlings have more vibrant coloration than their regular counterparts. Because of the nature of crossbreeding, the feminized seeds do not end up with petite, small-sized leaves. Instead, they develop large and robust flowers with many different hues of red, purple, orange and yellow – ultimately producing a wider variety than could be found in regular cannabis seeds. The result is that the plant will naturally come to be the dominant strain when it comes to hues of its flowers, as well as the dominant type of shape in the plant overall.

– Different flavors can be achieved through the crossbreeding process. When plants are grown singly, they have very little in the way of flavor, aroma or character. However, when these hybrid plants are crossed with regular cannabis seeds, specific combinations of flavor can be achieved. Certain feminized strains of cannabis are known for their spicy, earthy or fruity flavors. In fact, some of the best strains of all have very distinct tastes and aromas.

– Autoflowering seeds create a better growing environment. There is greater control over the yield from the plant during the first two months of life by crossbreeding. This is because the plant is not completely dependent on the mother plant for survival. It has developed its own set of chromosomes and a set of characteristics – including height, flavor and other traits – that are better developed by this process. Some of the most popular autoflowering cannabis varieties are Jamaican Blue, Shiva’s Own, Teacher’s Gold, Queen Anne and others.
