After separation, the female plants are re-sterilized, then shelled and prepared for use. The buds are placed into a dehydrated state to cure and ready them for flowering. When they are ready the seeds are put into small plastic airtight bags and the bags are placed into the sun for a few days.

Assortments like X critters, X male plants, and X feminized plants are only found in certain feminized cannabis strains. These assortments are cross-bred between male and female plants to create new combinations that only produce X chromosomes. Crossbreeding can sometimes increase the yield of feminized cannabis seeds, but also greatly decrease their overall potency.

Crossbreeding for the most efficient results may be best achieved by starting out with a crossbrood that has already produced excellent results. Examples include indica, barley grass, chives, kush, and blueberry. By carefully selecting the best crosses between the desired traits, the best results can then be achieved. As an example, feminized seeds (X) that contain X critical characters, can often only be obtained through crossbreeding with another plant with less X critical character defects.

X critters are plants with no evident XX chromosomes. In order to crossbreed these plants, one would need to make a colony of X plants with an outstanding progeny. This can easily be accomplished by making a colony of plants with X critters and then crossing them with female plants bearing the desired feminized trait. The result is a fully feminized plant bearing all the desired traits at the highest level.
